Akali Phoola Singh was the Jathedar of Akal Takht. It was he who pronounced punishment of whipping Maharaja Ranjit Singh for a transgreesion on his part. He accepted this willingly. Fighting in the battle of Naushera Akali Phoola Singh Ji, he laid down his life.
Between 1765-1781, the Sikhs conquered Delhi fifteen times. In 1781, Sardar Baghel Singh hoisted Kesri ( saffron ) flag on the Red Fort abd Sardar Jassa Singh Ahluwalia graced the throne of Delhi.
Baba Banda Singh Bahadur was Madho Das Bairagi before his baptisation by Guru Gobind Singh. He always considered himself to be a humble devotee of the Guru. After his occupation of Sirhind, he abolished jagirdari ( feudalism ) from Punjab. He made Mukhlisgarh his capital and issued currency in the name of Gurus. His official seal bore the mark Deg Teg Fateh ( Hail sword and free Kitchen ). He was tortured to death in Delhi. He remained every inch a Sikh to the end.
Bhai Kanhaya was blessed with such a chritable disposition that he did not see any difference between a friend and foe. In the battlefield, he served water to wounded Trunks with the same generosity as he served it to his own Singh soldiers. When someone complained of this to the Guru, he submitted Everywhere he saw none but the Guru himself.
He is one of the pioneers of the tradition of social service. He used to say, A saint, if interested in materialism is a mercenary.
Bhai Dyala was the brother of Bhai Mani Singh. At the bidding of the Mughal rulers, he was executed when he was asked to sit in boiling water of a cauldron at Chandni Chowk Delhi. Panth Prakash discribes that Bhai Dyala neither protested nor cried ; no matter that the executors kept the fire burning.
Out of the 692 Sikhs held alongwith Banda Bahadur at Gurdas Nangal, 100 Sikhs were being executed daily by the orders of Farikh Siyar. The mother of a recently married youngman obtained orders for the release of her son, saying that he was not a Sikh. The youngman made an uproar claiming that he was the humblest Sikh of the Guru and would to be executed alongwith his other Sikh brethern.

He laid the foundation stone of Harmandir Sahib ( Golden Temple ).
It is situated in the north of Akal Takht Sahib. Where Guru Teg Bahadur Sahib sat and prayed a while when the Mahants had barred his entry into Harminder Sahib. Thara means a raised platform of Masonary.
It is in the south eastern part of city Chattiwind Gate. This is the site where Guru Arjun Sahib compiled the Guru Granth Sahib.
